Pilates Instructor Marlow
Pilates is open to everyone, not only is it a powerful rehabilitation tool but a great way to get the very best out of your body. Classes can be adapted to give less or more challenging exercises depending on the individual.
Pilates is a mental and physical body conditioning programme that uses exercises to change the way we use our bodies. It aims to improve muscle recruitment patterns, by restoring good postural alignment and natural optimum movement.
We work on flowing, controlled movements, connecting the mind and body through the breath. By focusing on the quality of movement, development of optimum movement patterns and posture alignment through your Pilates these will become part of your day to day movement patterns outside of the studio. As a result, you will see improved balance/stability, co-ordination and a boost of energy levels.

“In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference, in 20 you’ll see the difference, in 30 you’ll have a whole new body.”

Joseph Pilates, Return to Life Through Contrology

The Body Control Pilates Method

I teach the Body Control Pilates method, the UK and European market leader in Pilates teacher training, working to UK national standards, whose guiding principle is to make the benefits of Pilates available to all through high quality, safe and effective teaching. Body Control Pilates originates from Joseph Pilates method which he called ‘Contrology’ and consists of the ‘Classical Mat Series’ these 110 exercises are included in the Body Control Pilates method, in class many of the exercises we do are as preparation for these classical exercises.

Which class is best for you

I offer classes for beginners, intermediates and rehabilitation classes for those managing a condition or injury. I offer online and studio (Covid restrictions dependent) group or one to one classes.

One to one Class

This is a tailored class specifically for you and suitable for all levels. In addition to Pilates exercises if appropriate we may integrate some soft tissue techniques in the class to help to improve mobility to get the most out of the class for you and your body. Duet classes also available.

Group Classes

Beginners – No previous experience of Pilates is required. This class teaches the basic principles and beginner level exercises. If you are new to the Body Control method this is the ideal starting point to learn the specific exercises which may differ from other classes you may have attended.
Intermediate – Suitable for people moving on from a beginner class and ready to make a steady progression in Pilates.

Rehab classes

These classes are suitable for people with medical conditions such as arthritis, joint replacements, MS, stroke, cancer survivors or with general mobility problems. This is a smaller class so the Instructor is able to tailor exercises to individual needs. Please get in touch to discuss your own individual situation, it may be that GP sign off if required and some one to one classes may be needed initially before you join a group class.
Regular Soft Tissue treatments combined with  Pilates classes to work on alignment, mobility, stability and strength can offer a valuable combination to restore and maintain functional movement.
Some of the areas that Pilates can help with:
Back and Neck problems including pain management and dysfunction
Postural imbalances and correction, – counteracting
Recovery from joint surgery e.g. Knee and Hip replacements, cancer surgery
Sport injuries & Rehabilitation
Improving mobility and stability as we get older
Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Osteopenia, Strokes, Neurological conditions

Pilates Classes Prices & Booking

Everyone needs to attend a beginners’ course initially. The classes are taught at a variety of levels to suit individual needs and offer the maximum benefit. Alternatively, you can have private one to one sessions before joining a class when we both feel you are ready. Classes are small so I can offer adjustments and ensure you perform each exercise safely as its the quality not quantity of movement which is important in Pilates. are interested in joining these classes.
