“Change happens through movement, and movement heals”

Joseph Pilates

Pilates is open to everyone, not only is it a powerful rehabilitation tool but a great way to get the very best out of your body. Classes can be adapted to give less or more challenging exercises depending on the individual.
Pilates is a mental and physical body conditioning programme that uses exercises to change the way we use our bodies. It aims to improve muscle recruitment patterns, by restoring good postural alignment and natural optimum movement.
We work on flowing, controlled movements, connecting the mind and body through the breath. By focusing on the quality of movement, development of optimum movement patterns and posture alignment through your Pilates these will become part of your day to day movement patterns outside of the studio. As a result, you will see improved balance/stability, co-ordination and a boost of energy levels.

“In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference, in 20 you’ll see the difference, in 30 you’ll have a whole new body.”

Joseph Pilates, Return to Life Through Contrology

The Body Control Pilates Method

I teach the Body Control Pilates method, the UK and European market leader in Pilates teacher training, working to UK national standards, whose guiding principle is to make the benefits of Pilates available to all through high quality, safe and effective teaching. Body Control Pilates originates from Joseph Pilates method which he called ‘Contrology’ and consists of the ‘Classical Mat Series’ these 110 exercises are included in the Body Control Pilates method, in class many of the exercises we do are as preparation for these classical exercises.

Which class is best for you

I offer classes for beginners, intermediates and rehabilitation classes for those managing a condition or injury. I specialise in Lower back pain and am a Back4Good Lower Back Pain Practitioner.
I offer group classes, small private groups, duets or one to one classes.

One to one Class

This is a tailored class specifically for you and suitable for all levels. In addition to Pilates exercises if appropriate we may integrate some soft tissue techniques in the class to help to improve mobility to get the most out of the class for you and your body. Duet classes also available.

Beginners – No previous experience of Pilates is required. This class teaches the basic principles and beginner level exercises. If you are new to the Body Control method this is the ideal starting point to learn the specific exercises which may differ from other classes you may have attended.
Mixed Ability – This class has a mix of abilities and different options are given to scale the exercises up or down based.
Intermediate – Suitable for people moving on from a beginner class and ready to make a steady progression in Pilates.

Rehab classes

These classes are suitable for people with medical conditions such as arthritis, joint replacements, MS, stroke, cancer survivors or with general mobility problems. This is a smaller class so the Instructor is able to tailor exercises to individual needs.
